CREDIT CARDS on the INTERNET | |
The biggest worry about someone using your credit card number without your permission is that some unfortunate vendor is likely to be cheated out of goods without being able to secure payment. The Bank will not accept any responsibility for the charge - and you are NOT held responsible for fraudulent use of your credit card! . |

When you shop "normally" you give your credit card details to the store clerk. There is an implicit trust that he/she will not copy down your details (or keep the carbon imprinted with your card - do you always ask for it back?) and use them illegally! You "trust" the transaction will be "secure" |
The potential to hijack your details when emailing your credit card number over the 'net is increased with the number of relays the message will take before arriving at the "electronic store". Often in the case of overseas transactions there can be up to twenty or more "relay stations" between buyer and seller. This is where the potential exisits for some cunning person to "trap" your details - and use them for some illegal purpose. Always check your credit card statement ... if there are charges on there that you are certain did not originate from you - call the Credit Card company and advise them - they will have a procedure for disallowing the charge! |
Always
use SECURE SERVERS
YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ILLEGAL USE OF YOUR CARD! |
